TouchFest 1

The inaugural TouchFest took place yesterday in the glorious Cardiff sunshine and what a day it was . With a total of 9 Mixed teams travelling from across the country to compete, the talent on show was absolutely top draw.

It would be the hosts Kiwi Dragons and Swansea-based Gower Dragons that could progress to the Cup Final having both topped their pools earlier in the day. And what a match up it was, which the score tied at 8-8 after normal time hooter. What better way to end the day than with a drop-off and crowd of spectators. With both teams scoring early to tie at 1-1, the final score came in the dying seconds of the opening 2 minutes for Gower Dragons to take the victory.

Congratulations, too, to Kiwi Dragons Juniors who went on to win the Plate Final against Cardiff Coyotes in a highly competitive and entertaining match that ended with the youngsters taking the silverware 6-5.

Huge thanks for Rhian Williams, Kevin Hobbs and Clive Thomas of the Wales Touch Events Team for all their hard work in making the day a success. A special thank you, too, to all the referees that help make the games run so well, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

Thanks to Net World Sports for sponsoring the event and for helping us develop Forza Touch-specific balls, which we hope to keep iterating and improving based on player feedback from these tournaments.

Next up, the Events Team head to Carmarthen for TF2 on the 10th June where there will be both Mens and Womens divisions available. Please sign up as soon as possible if you haven't already done so. Rumour has it there will be some Mens Open scouts attending!
